GymDesk is our gym management software. It helps us handle sign ups, keep track of members, schedule practices, setup memberships with recurring payments, and more.
Each wrestler, including members, drop ins, and visitors, will need to have a GymDesk account and have signed the waiver to participate.
Please sign up with the wrestler's name and information.
If you are signing up multiple wrestlers, you can create a family account where each additional family member's rate contains a 50% discount to lessen the cost on families with multiple wrestlers.
Clicking the links on the Memberships page will take you directly to the appropriate plan to sign up.
Memberships are billed on the 1st of every month, please add a payment method when signing up.
Pre-booking practices is not necessary for attending, we have plenty of room!
However, some future events such as clinics will require booking.
When attending a session, please check in using your selected numerical code or name lookup at the front desk or with one of the coaches!
You can also use your GymDesk app on your mobile device to check in and record your attendance as well.
With the mobile app, you can:
Participation in any sport carries an inherent risk of being injured, wrestling notwithstanding. Wrestling is always done in a safe controlled supervised environment. During competition, wrestling has the best referee to competitor ratio of nearly any sport with 1 referee per 2 competitors. This allows the referee to totally focus on the safety first and foremost of these student/athletes. Wrestling has less incidences of concussions per athlete than a sport like soccer and significantly less than football and fewer lower body injuries in comparison to basketball.
No, it's a co-ed sport! In fact, wrestling is currently the fastest growing female sport in the country. Many states have adopted high school girls wrestling and youth participation for girls in wrestling has increased enormously over the past couple years.

Cauliflower ear is easily preventable by wearing headgear. All Zero wrestlers are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to wear their headgear in practice and during competition, even though its use has become optional in recent years.
All contact sports have an inherent risk of athletes contracting skin infections, including sports like football and basketball. Our wrestling coaches take vast measures to ensure that skin infections are both prevented and controlled and contained once identified. However, should something suspicious be identified, we notify the parent to get the skin area diagnosed and treated immediately.
The GREAT thing about wrestling is that children are paired or matched by weight, age and ability. Your child will be matched with another child that is similar weight, age and skill level. Unlike sports like football where size mismatches often occur to create an advantage, wrestling makes every attempt to ensure all efforts are made so that each match is evenly paired with size, weight, age and ability.
We recommend gym shorts and a tight fitting shirt and wrestling shoes for practice. Headgear is also recommended.
Yes, practices are open to parents compared to other clubs which are closed. We believe parents should be present to learn as well as the wrestlers and be a foundational part of our club!
Practice involves: Warm-up and stretching, technique, drilling technique, live wrestling, and occasionally games. The goal of practice is to develop wrestling fundamentals in an enjoyable atmosphere where all wrestlers can learn. Wrestlers are expected to listen and follow the Code of Conduct. Parents are encouraged to watch and learn, and we are always looking for volunteers who have a wrestling background or experience working with kids.
Practices are held on the upper floor of Zero BJJ at the following address: 463 S Albemarle St, York, Pennsylvania 17403, United States
Practice on the upper floor of Zero BJJ. You may drop off or wait in the provided chairs upstairs. Within practices, wrestlers will be grouped by age, size, and experience.
In order to most effectively instruct our wrestlers, we have split up our practices into novice and advanced. This enabled us to focus on fundamentals, body movements, and fun to grow adoption of the sport in novice, while emphasizing technique, mentality, competition readiness, and intensity in the advanced group.

Basic wrestling equipment includes a headgear, wrestling shoes, and a singlet/uniform. Wrestling shoes offer more ankle support than the traditional shoe and are designed lightweight and tight to the foot to promote freedom of movement along with maximizing grip with the mat. Headgear can prevent outer ear injuries and bruises during practice and competition, however, in recent years is becoming less required. Kneepads or tights are sometimes worn by choice to reduce skin abrasions on knees and legs.
The standard wrestling uniform, known as a singlet, is designed to fit snug to the body so that it does not restrict the movement of either wrestler. Alternatively, compression shirt and short competition uniforms may be worn to encourage wrestlers to compete that do not want to wear a singlet. Both singlets and compression shirt/shorts will be available for purchase.
Competitions will require wrestling shoes and uniform (singlet OR compression shirt/shorts). Some events will require headgear while others make it optional, however, we still recommend it. Wrestlers often like to wear the compression shirt with gym shorts as warm ups as well.
